BDP or Secondary site over WAN for Remote Locations
have 25 remote location and one HQ sccm primary site. These sites have 10 mbps, 2mpbs and 512 kpbs wan connection. Should i use branch distribution point on remote sites, or install secondary sites in each location. I will deploy software packages, software updates, and centrally managed policies. OSD will not be used over wan. Which design fit this situation, bdp or secondary site?

Also each site has a client count between 130-500

That question cannot be answered without knowing the number of clients for each location.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

Hi, I normally vote for a secondary site. But as Torsten is saying it depends on a number of factors like number of clients, servers present at the remote locations etc. This article will help you answer the question - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693570.aspxKent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Yes and because of the number of clients there. And secondaries are more reliable IMHO.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

thanks Torsten. Is there any official recommendation about that? A document which explains why we must use secondary site instead of branch distribution point?

See the link Kent already provided. You don't have to use secondaries in your scenario - it's just a recommendation from Kent and me.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

7 site has 300-500 client "Secondary sites" + standard DP 7 site has 120-170 client "Secondary sites" + standard DP 7 site has 20-80 client "Protected BDPS be sure that you are using BDPs not standrad DP ' you can use Windows server as BDP this will be better as it will use Bits to download packages + the Concurrent connections is Unlimited to 10 like Windows xp or 20 Like Windows 7 " 4 site 200-300 client "Secondary sites" + standard DP i prefer if its possible to make the Primary site DBs mdf and ldf on another physicall drive for performance improvemnt as the Primary will be busy with all secondries , finally be sure about your boundires to avoid overlapping
