I have two questions.
1. Does Azure AD RMS support external users? I have activated RMS within Office 365 / Sharepoint Online and entered & licensed users with an individual Microsoft Account (e.g. outlook.com) through the Azure Active Directory portal. I then tried to open a test Word-document, but when I try to provide a email@example.com account as credentials within Word 2010, the message I get is that the outlook.com-user does not have the permission to open the protected document.
2. My understanding is that in order to use the 'cloud' version of RMS we need to install the RMS Client 2.1 on each client machine. Does this client support Office 2010 on for example a Windows 7 machine? Because we tried it in Word 2010 and the result was that we kept getting back the 'old' signin-interface for Windows Live ID accounts. This interface does not accept Organizational Microsoft Accounts i.e. Office 365 / Sharepoint Online.
Any experience with this situation, anyone?
1. Azure AD RM does support external users, but only Microsoft Organizational Accounts, not a Microsoft Account (LiveID). The scenario you describe, sharing a protected document to an external user outside of your tenant, would require the recipient to create an AAD tenant and login via that account.
2. Azure ADRM does support Office 2010 using the ADRMS client 1.0, and Office 2013 with the 2.1 client on Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. There is a additional configuration required for Office 2010 clients. We're working on a simpler setup solution for Office 2010.
