1. What all IT operations can be automated using sccm & scom?

2. So far i am planning to do the following?
a. When a user request for a software, servicedesk goes to a intranet website, selects software from a drop down list and submits  it, on the backend this is done through sccm.

b. installing scom agent along with os deployment on every machine through sccm.

c. Then integrate scom dashboard with sharepoint, This will show server  availability on sharepoint.

where else can i use scom/sccm in integration with other applications?

Yes, you can use orchestrator for automation, you can run activities or scripts.

a. Applications deployed user collection as available will shown in application catalog, so users could choose the app they want. But it doesn't work in the way you described. I believe you can do this with SCSM integration

b. It should be possible to deploy SCOM agent with OSD

c. You may get a better answer in SCOM forum for this question.
