I use SSRS 2008 R2 Enterprise Evaluation. I have successfully created the dataset by MDX with 2 partameters. But the dataset that supposed to create automatically for the parameter dropdown is not available for me. Even I don't have the item 'show hidden dataset' in Report Data pane. Any clue why is it so? no 'compromise' in my dictionary

I have tried the same scenario and it is working fine for me. Did you try adding the created data set by clicking add dataset into the data pane ? It is getting listed there for me. BTW i am also unable to see the option of "Show hidden datasets". My version is SQL Denali CTP1.

Once you add the data set , check the parameters . A new parameter has to be got added automatically. Also Please make sure you have checked the parameter check box in the designer window. Refer : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms156303.aspx

I have 3 parameters, one is ProgramName and other two are dates. And all these are pretty fine. I can run report for various daterange also. I use R2 Enterprise evaluation for some reason, do not know if there are configuration to be switched.no 'compromise' in my dictionary

Hi Kool.rens, It seems your original question has been solved, right? Currently, you want to switch to other edition of SQL Server, you could update to different version, but you could not switch to different editon based on current product, so you have to install a different edition of SQL Server according to your requirement. It is not resolved. I got SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer editions installed and recreated the package. Still I have no luck. Steps I did 1. New SSRS projects in BIDS 2. Created a new shared data source to SSAS developent server 3. Created a shared dataset on the datasource created at step 2 with MDX. Dragged an dimension/attribute to the parameter pane and checked the paramter checkbox. 4. The shared datasource is configured the report Datasource 5. Added the dataset created in step 3 to the report. (report pane) 6. I got the parameter in the datapane tree, but still there is no auto generated dataset to be used to give in 'Available values' Am I missing any steps here?no 'compromise' in my dictionary

OK, OK. It is not working for me, thats the reality. Now what if I create a dataset on my own to populate the parameter drop down? in that case how do I need to format the parameter string for the MDX, it is multiselect. (This paramter dropdown will be used by one of the T-SQL dataset also)no 'compromise' in my dictionary
