Hi Manoj, You can use the Trimauditlog features of STSADM to delete audit entries older than a certain date. Refer this article - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc706879(office.12).aspx Hope this helps. Thanks & Regards, Kamlesh | Blog | Twitter | Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

I'm running MOSS SP1, this feature is available only on installing an infrastructure update

Is there no possibility for you to consider applying Service Pack 2?Thanks & Regards, Kamlesh | Blog | Twitter | Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Not at the moment, lots of customizations are in. Is it advised to delete these records from backend sql commands? Regards, Manoj

Can you check if this Infrastructure Update is already there? It was released in 2008. Look for KB951297 (link for 32-bit MOSS 2007) on your Server. If its already there, then you can go ahead with Trimauditlog optionThanks & Regards, Kamlesh | Blog | Twitter | Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Then you'd better to apply the update to your servers and following Kamlesh's suggestions. For your information, Service Pack 1 for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 is nearing the end of its life cycle and will be retired on July 13, 2010. After that date you must upgrade to Service Pack 2 View information about the support life cycle. This information applies to Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Hope it helps.Sincerely, Lambert Qin Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Hi Lambert, Thanks for the update, we are planning an SP2 upgrade. In the meantime, would deleting the log from backend using SQL query cause any issues? Regards, Manoj

Without the infrastructure upgrade, you have to remove the data using SQL, and interacting directly with SQL without using the approved API calls will likey render your support agreement moot if you have a problem, and its very easy to get a SQL statement wrong and break something. I have a blog posting that you should read: http://www.johntimney.com/blog/Controlling+MOSS+Audit+Log+Sizes.aspx If it were me I'd plan in the upgrade! Regards John Timney
