Assigning Custom Permission Role to a List Column in MOSS 2007
I have created three custom roles: Role1, Role2, Role3. I have a user list with permissions column. This permissions column has three choices in a dropdown list. I want to associate each value in the dropdown list to a custom role (Role1
or Role2 or Role3). This way, when I create a new user, I would just have to pick a value in the permissions column. Oh Yes, I am using MOSS 2007.Sageer

This is the 2010 forum. Your question is for 2007, which goes in the pre-2010 forum.
What do you mean by "create a new user"? Users are not created in SharePoint, so how is a dropdown column applicable to a user getting created?SharePoint Architect || Microsoft MVP ||

My apologies for not putting my question in the right forum, I hope you can still help me on this. I have created a list, with Permissions as a column. I want to give custom persmissions roles for each type of Permissions value.Sageer

hello
you can implement
custom field type for this. It is not necessary to implement it from scratch - you can inherit OTB
SPFieldChoice and customize it by adding your custom groups into choice list. After that you will need to add this field into your listBlog - http://sadomovalex.blogspot.com
