Hi,
Is the rest of the fields inventoried for that computer? I would look at the computer using Wbemtest of msinfo to make sure that the serial number filed in WMI actually is populated...
If it isn't visible in WMI on the client SCCM cannot inventory it either, I have seen this as well on computers where the motherboard has been changed on a break and fix and the serial number wasn't set by the technician afterwards,
For Lenovo computers there was a case in SCCM 2007 where you had to change the Query to actuelly get the Serial Number reported..

Jrgen
I am so sorry for the late reply.
Yes, rest of the fields for that(some) computers are inventoried but serial number. with Wbemtest i can connect to that machine default path. Is there any other way to check with Wbemtest to find serial number.
But I know same machine reported serial number with sccm 2007. What query needs to be write could you please help?
Running this command "wmic bios get serialnumber" in local computer outputs the serial number. Why it is not coming through SCCM? Pease suggest.
That because the CM12 AI report doesnt use PC Bios serial number within it report. There are about 5 different places to get serial number on a PC and at least 3 of them are exposed by CM12. You will need to manually edit the report and adjust it so that you can see both the different serial numbers.
Thanks Garth
Could you please list this five places and the three discovered by CM12 for me ?
Could you please give me the SQL query as well?
Thanks

And there are a few other places too. a Google search for win32 and serial number will reveal them.
