You can refer to the following article and navigate to the Verify the configuration section which lists some basic test to perform to make sure update installed correctly. I think if you install SP3 with the correct steps, most of your farm should works fine. I am new to installing or upgrading windows products in general, and MOSS 2007 in particular. I am trying to plan an upgrade from MOSS 2007 SP1 to SP3. This site is just under 200 GB in size, primarily documents, but a variety of other things like lists, wikis, etc. I am trying to figure out, after applying the service packs for WSS 3.0 and Office Server 2007, what kinds checks are needed to validate that the site is working correctly. Obviously, the first thing to check is that one can access the server's Central Admin app, then that one can access the top of the sharepoint server. One can click on a variety of links in each of these applications. However, all through a SharePoint site there are likely to be alerts, workflows (out of the box or SharePoint Designers), InfoPath forms, possibly special templates, special connectors to data, web parts, etc. After that, the most fruitful testing will be by the site owners and users. They know best their data, have the internal and external access needed, etc. It would, however, really be useful to have some sort of checklist/recipe/guidelines/help document that suggests various kinds of things to test, and what to do if things go wrong. The more information that I can give them, perhaps the less number of calls I get about problems. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone is aware of any such documents that could be used in helping people after an upgrade of this type. Thank you so much for your time.
