Archival Solutions for MOSS Site Collections that retain metadata
Hi all, Can anyone suggest a manner in which I can successfuly take a SharePoint Site Collection both offline whilst successfully retaining the metadata, both automated and created? My scenario is that I'm using a standard MOSS site collection which contains a number of important details. I've had a look at Groove, but I find that this is more apt for offline working but doesn't cater for any site collection saving. SO, my scenario stands. As far as I can see, I've got these options: - STSADM a back-up: This is a crude fashion but would meet the aims of metadata retention and being able to burn to DVD Programatically: Not my preferred option but I'd consider it if it was easy enough to do Third party products: I'm NOT asking for product endoresment but product options. Is there anything that will archive a site collection to a DVD or other portable media whilst retaining metadata? if so, please let me know. Thus far, I've tried having a play with Groove, but this only does half the job. I've seen some third party products but would prefer not to bias myself for or againt any solutions that may have worked for forum members. Please let me know if I've not explained any of this clearly enough. Thanks StevenSteven Andrews | SharePoint Professional | http://www.twitter.com/backpackerd00d | https://baron72.wordpress.com/

You can check out DocAve Archiver from AvePoint. http://www.avepoint.com/sharepoint-extension-archiving-docave/. It has the ability to archive the content within a site collection (or web site or library) and even leave a shell behind that allows users to still access the web site and its content by using the "archive browser". <disclaimer>I do work for AvePoint</disclaimer> :) Randy - http://sharepointhawaii.com/randywilliams
