Approving a request : Service not available
Hi, I want to do a very easy thing : if anybody modifies a specified attribute (department) of any user, we must have someone (let's call her Karen) that approves the modification. So, I created an Authorization workflow choosing "Approval" in the activity picker and specifying Karen as the approver. Then, I created an MPR that triggers the workflow every time a member of "All People" edits the department attribute of a member of "All People". Then, I modified the department of someone. The workflow is well triggered because when I login as Karen, I see in my list of requests to be approven :"Update to Person: ...". When I select this request and click on the Approve (or Reject) button and then submit, I have an error page :"Service not available". Do you have any idea about this error page ? Thank you. /Rem

Finally, the problem was solved (and thank you to remind me to post the answer here ;) It was due to a FIM Service configuration problem (probably due to a non perfect installation). In the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager\2010\Service\Microsoft.RessourceManagement.Service.exe.config file, the base adresses and externalHostNames wasn't good. Change it to localhost or wherever your FIM Service is and it should work. Thank you Markus for your reply. /Rem

Rem, be careful with this. The externalHostname attribute should never be set to "local host"(!). You MUST use the Fully Qualified Domain Name for this attribute! Cheers, MarkusMarkus Vilcinskas, Knowledge Engineer, Microsoft Corporation

Oh yes, you are right ! I just checked and only the base adress attribute is set to localhost. externalHostname is the Fully Qualified Domain Name. Thank you. /Rem
