Approval Workflow User is Currently Away

Encountering a unique workflow message today in a custom approval workflow. Has anyone seen an example like below before? Also the workflow had not been displaying this user as away at 8:00am this morning when running the workflow.

Any thoughts on why this user would be set too Away and the workflow would take the assigning individual "Workflow VP" manager "Workflow SR VP" into the people/group field to be the approver of the Task? Sorry I hope this makes sense.
