Approval Status not working in Content Approval
Hi,
I have a document library in Sharepoint, for which Content Approval is enabled. A user who is a site collection administrator is trying following:
1.)-> Open the Document library View -> Approve/Reject (This is the view that is automatically provisioned with content Approval)->and opened this view in Datasheet view.
2.)Trying to change the Content Approval Status from Pending to Approval and the Status Reverts back to Pending.
3) The Draft item security is set to "Any user who can edit items(author of the document)".
Why is this happening? Typically a Site collection admin should be able to approve any document in theory.
We checked with users that have same level of permissions and they were able to Approve. What is making a particular site collection admin not able to approve documents
Can anyone help?
Thanks,

Hi Cooltechie1234,
As one who is having permission to approve/reject items, they only be able to edit item in datasheet view.
You must use the Approve/reject Items view in order to be able to take advantage of the Datasheet view in this situation. Once you are in this view, and then switch
it into Edit in Datasheet mode you are able to select an Approval Status cell, click on the fill handle, and use the familiar drag-fill approach to change the status of items.
Below article will give exact behavior of List Item Approval using the Datasheet View:
