Applications with two deployment types makes uninstall button in software center "greyed" out.

Hi

SCCM 2012 R2 running on Windows server 2012 with Windows 7 clients.

We are publishing applications to users that are available (not required), so that they can be downloaded from the application catalog web site. We have som applications that needs more then one deployment type (different pre requirements depending on OS architecture) and when I create two deployment types for one Application the uninstall button in Software center is greyed out? If i remove one of the deployment types so there is just one, well then the Uninstall button is available again.

An example is Itunes. I publish one Itunes application to the store that has two deployment types, one for X86 and another for X64 with requirments on OS architetcure. the correct version gets installed but the uninstall button is not possible to use. If i remove one of the deployment types then the deployment button is not greyed out.

Is this a bug?

Thanks everyone.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, But i've seen greyed out uninstall button in software center when the deployment type does not have correct uninstall information.

Hi

Tried using deployment type msi and deployment type script. If I use two deployment types it is greyed out, if I remove one of the deployment types the uninstall button is active. So for me it looks like a bug or a that Microsoft did not think of this scenario, so then it is a feature request.

No, it's a bug (actually a regression from previous versions) confirmed by the product group.

Any news by when is it expected to get fixed?

Will we have to wait for the next version? Or is there a patch in the making?

That's a question for CSS. You should open a support case with them if this is a high priority item for you.

I know it's a bug, when there are more deployment types, but in R2 I experience the same behaviour with only one deployment type too.

The button seems to be grayed out randomly, I experienced the same in a lab and in a productive environment too.

Did anyone experience this with one DT as well???

cheers

quick update: just experienced this: when I click a newly installed app, and it's Uninstall button is enabled, and then I click back to the one where it was disabled, that one gets enabled too...

I have seen that if I pretend to make a change (For example just adding a character like 'space' to the description or some comment field) the uninstall option will Return when this happens on single deployment types...

CU1 for R2 should fix that: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2938441

CU1 does not seem to address this issue. I am having the same problem after upgrading to R2 and applying the cumulative update (1).

Any details available? How many DTs? Which ones? Is the deployment 'available'? etc

Single deployment types. Applications are deployed as "available". This seems to be random. More odd behavior, when Uninstall is greyed out, I will go to the application catalog and select to install the application again. System Center will tell me that the application is already installed. I will go back to the Installed Software tab and the button will be enabled most times. It may be enabled on the Installation Status tab, but not on the Installed Software tab sometimes visa versa.

We will be installing CU3 this Friday. During the next week or so, I will deploy the CU3 client to the workstations.

I do not believe that the uninstall button issue will be addressed with this update either, according to what I have read so far.

If, by some small yet profound miracle, my uninstall button regains full functionality, I will gladly let all of you know.

I would hope that Microsoft would address this issue seriously, as I am sure the rumblings of dissatisfaction are beginning to grow louder with each passing CU that ignores the problem.

They don't really respond to "grumblings" though. Not that they aren't valid, just that they don't. To get them to sit up and take notice, you really need to contact CSS and file a bug.

Hey guys.

I just installed a brand new SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 which is similar to 2012 SP2

anyway, deployed an application to software center and the application uninstall option is grayed out

The application has 2 deployment type.

does it make sense this bug still exists?!

How? Available or required?

Available, of course

that's another bug, when you switch between Tabs, for the first selected entry the uninstall is always (as I tested) greyed out.

When you select another entry and then reselect the first one uninstall is possible (with available + uninstall command line)

BUT when you have only on entry (as your picture shows) you can try this: enter something within the "Search" box and delete it. Then you should have the uninstall available (today we have the same problem during SP1 + Win10 tests)

Got damn!

I used the search and then the Uninstall was available.

seriously I'm confused. I mean, I don't know if this workaround makes me happy or makes me cry

Stefan, did you report or open an SR with MS support about this issue? are they aware?

or we're going to be stuck with this bug forever? :/
