Application Security issue with Windows 10

I have installed Notepad++ using the default installation in C:\Programs Files (x86)\Notepad++ and using a modified installation in D:\Notepad++. The version running from C:\ drive starts without an issue, the version running from D:\ drive gets the following error every time I start Notepad++.

This happens with other apps installed on the D:\ as well. Can someone tell me why this is happening? I have set the .exe files to run as administrator and I am logged in as administrator. I installed the applications while logged in as administrator. I have read many articles about UAC on the Microsoft site and others but I have found nothing that I can use to fix the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

This program is published by unknown publisher, regarding to this kind of program, you will be prompted by UAC if the file is not in one of the C:\Users\ (user-name) folder locations, and in a system folder (ex: C:\Windows or C:\program) instead.

Download famous application from official website, it normally has publisher registered.

Hi Deason,

Thanks for the reply. However I have the latest version of notepad++ from their website and the problem exists. I have decided that Microsoft's has implemented their security measure without much thought to the implementation. I should be able to tell the OS that a particular program is not an issue. Frankly I think Microsoft is far too restrictive with their security implementation and they should go back to the drawing board and implement a more intelligent system.

I have solved the problem by installing notepad++ on the c: drive which does dot give the error.
