Application Catalog web service point and website point Critical but nothing in the logs

New Installation - Windows Server 2008 R2 and SCCM 2012 R2

I have both these roles showing as critical.

When I first installed it I forgot to aspnet_regiis.exe -i and also enable WCF and HTTP Activation for .Net.

Fixed these issues and the App Cat now works fine but still showing as critical. Have reset counts, uninstalled and re-installed and they still always come up as critical. The portal works fine but don't like having the critical status.

portlctl.log and awebsctl.log & screenshot of roles here: https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=F0F1E3071B6ECE72&id=F0F1E3071B6ECE72%211498

Looks like a bug to me but thought I would see if anyone could spot something.

Thanks

Geoff

Hi,

Your logs are unavailable in the SkyDrive. Could you please re-upload them?

Hi,

There is no error in these log. So, first, lets check the prerequisites for the two site system roles.

Supported Configurations for Configuration Manager

If all prerequisites have met, site status message need to be checked. We should repair these site system roles according to the error messages.

(Monitoring->Overview->System Status->Site Status-><Site System Role>->right click->Show messages)

Hi Joyce,

There are no error messages in the Status messages either and the application catalogue works fine.

I have another SCCM server on the same site so have installed the App Cat two roles on that server (works fine and they are showing green under the role status).

That works for me so not going to try and fix it any more but I would be interested to know if anyone else has the same issue.

Thanks for your assistance anyhow

I have the same issue.  Application Catalog web service point shows with a critical error; but no component errors.  Everything seems to work okay, however.

Deploying these roles to external site systems is not actually an answer. That is like telling someone to format the disk and start again.

I see this also at multiple clients and am trying to track it do

Agreed - looked like a bug to me. Couldn't find any trace of error in any logs and all was working fine. Just doesn't look good to leave a client's site with big red crosses against components. They were happy to install on the second server which was already in place but it was a work around not a fix.

I do lots of these implementations so will post if I see it again.

Upgraded to SP1 and then R2 and I'm having the same result.  I had the result right after the SP1 upgrade and it remained after the R2 upgrade. Web service point and website point both show critical but no errors and the application catalog is working fine.

I have the same issue. No error messages but services shown as critical. Did you manage to find how to show it OK? One of the prerequisites to upgrade to R2 is having no errors in Site Status so I can't move on...

Hi guys,

I know this is quite an old post, but I had exactly the same issue although the roles were working as they should.

Here is how I fixed it.

http://www.networksteve.com/enterprise/topic.php/SCCM_2012_Application_Catalog_Website_Point_role_Status_is_criti/?TopicId=71452&Posts=1

All you got to do is:

  • tamper with 2 entries in CCM database.
  • Check the WMI entries (I used WMI Explorer for that).
  • Remove both roles
  • Check if entries from SQL and WMI are deleted as they should
  • Install roles once more

Finally everything is green now!!

Cheers
