App Controller SP1 installation on SQL 2008 R2 failes

Hi,

I tried to install App Controller 2012 SP1 in different ways - all of them failed.

1. Windows Server 2012 with SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 Standard (clean installed)

2. Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 Standard (clean installed)

3. Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 Standard and a previously installed App Controller 2012 (without SP1) (uninstalled,retained DB) - I get the same error as mentioned here.

SQL 2008 R2 should be supported as written here and here.

App Controller 2012 without SP1 can be installed without any problems, so I think I configured everything in the right way. And yes, for the AC SP1 installation I installed VMM 2012 SP1 Console and Powershell 3.0 first.

At this time its not possible for me to install SQL 2012.

Can anybody help? Was anybody able to install App Controller SP1 in one of the 3 constellations?

Thank you!

Hi Robbelt88,

The setup logs will show what the failure is and provide a clue for the next steps of troubleshooting.

For SP1 you'll find the setup logs in %SYSTEMDRIVE%\ProgramData\AppControllerLogs\

Kind Regards,

Richard

Hi Robbelt88,

I had done the setup and upgrade feature test about AC, the scenarios in the matrix below are all work in my test.

1. Windows Server 2012 with SQL Server 2012 Ent{named instance or default instance is OK}.(clean installed)

2. Windows Server 2K8 R2 SP1 with SQL Server 2k8R2 Ent(named instance or default instance is OK).(clean installed)

Yes, I had encountered a block issue with yours, is "Existing database is not empty and does not appear to be a App Controller database". it is a bug in our AC. but U.S. team had fix this. if you still meet the issue. you can try to sign in your SQL, delete the existed DB manually. if you failed to delete the DB, you can run the below query in your SQL Server management studio. the query is below:

 use msdb;
 GO
 EXEC sp_delete_job
     @job_name = N'CloudManagerDailyJobGroomer'
 EXEC sp_delete_job
     @job_name = N'CloudManagerOrphanedJobMarker'

Go
