Anywhere Access - One User Failing

One single user, that was working previously, is no longer able to connect via anywhere access.

  1. I have tested their password, works correctly
  2. I can log in to the Remote Web Workspace with the username and password
  3. Other users including new users can connect to the VPN via Anywhere access
  4. The problem is not machine specific

The server is running 2012 R1 essentials.  As I had mentioned it worked previously. I have

  1. Server is updated and rebooted
  2. I have turned off and back on in the Essentials Dashboard, the users account to access it
  3. I have tested this on multiple machines

Any Ideas are appreciated?

Can  you please give us the exact error message when this user attempts to connect via VPN and AA?  At or near the time that the attempt is made are there any errors in the event viewer?  Is this user a member of the exact same security groups as the others?

Also, review this list of the log files and note which ones are updated at the time the user makes the attempt.  See if any are changed and if they offer any clues.

Hi,

According to your description, my understanding is that one user failed to access VPN via Anywhere Access, while he can successfully access RWA(Remote Web Access). And this is not a machine specific problem.

The server is running 2012 R1 essentials you mentioned might be WS 2012 R2 Essentials.

If this problem happened to specific user and not machine related, try to re-enable VPN permission for the account:
Dashboard USERS - select the user account Properties - Anywhere Access tab - select the Allow Virtual Private Network (VPN) check box Apply - OK.

Besides, reference below link for Troubleshooting Common VPN issues on Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2014/06/11/troubleshooting-common-vpn-issues-on-windows-server-2012-r2-essentials.aspx

If the problem persists, please provide more information to further identify this problem, such as VPN failed error message.

Best Regards,
Eve Wang
