Anti-Virus settings in Sharepoint 2007 ?
We have install Forefront and McAfee in our WFE server, I guess Forefront is used to scan only the sharepoint documents and McAfee is used to scan only the local file system, is my understanding correct ? or McAfee also be used to scan the sharepoint documents (Anti-virus settings in CA) ?

Are you talking about the SharePoint versions of both these products or their standard products ?FAQ sites: (SP 2010) http://wssv4faq.mindsharp.com; (v3) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com and (WSS 2.0) http://wssv2faq.mindsharp.com Complete Book Lists (incl. foreign language) on each site.

To Mike's point both products ForeFront and McAfee have "add on" a company can buy for scanning just sharepoint documents in Central Admin (CA) and both can scan the local file system. Does that make sense to you? If you're an EA customer you might get a great deal on FF Client and Sec for SharePoint :) ForeFront Client (IE Local File System) http://www.microsoft.com/forefront/clientsecurity/en/us/default.aspx ForeFront Security for SharePoint (Add on) http://www.microsoft.com/forefront/serversecurity/sharepoint/en/us/default.aspx McAfee (Add on)http://www.mcafee.com/us/enterprise/products/system_security/servers/security_microsoft_sharepoint.html Kris Wagner, MCITP, MCTS Twitter @sharepointkris Blog: http://www.sharepointkris.com/blog

We have installed Forefront security for SharePoint and McAfee enterprise 8.7 however I could not see "McAfee Security for Microsoft SharePoint" in the add/remove program list.

Hi, Yes, we can use McAfee PortalShield 2.0 for SharePoint Server to scan SharePoint documents. From your post, you want to install two anti-virus on your SharePoint server, I suggest that you just install one of them is ok. Based on my local test, I can see McAfee PortalShield 2.0 for SharePoint Server in add or remove program. When you install McAfee PortalShield 2.0 for SharePoint Server, you will find that it has configured the anti-virus setting in the Central Administration. Of course, you can also change the default setting. For more information about How Do I Configure Anti Virus In Windows SharePoint Services (Using Forefront Security for SharePoint), please refer to the following article: How Do I: Configure Anti Virus In Windows SharePoint Services (Using Forefront Security for SharePoint) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/sharepoint/dd253231.aspx Hope this helps.
