Another program requires the server to be restarted before Setup can continue.

Rebooted 15 times trying to get SP1 for SCCM 2012 installed.

I checked both of the following threads my registry entries are bare

social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/configmanagerdeployment/thread/f1dc6636-9e89-41d5-a102-968b82fd8c50

social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmanagerdeployment/thread/35361dc3-1a7f-487c-a3e0-6082174080e6

I can paste in the ConfigMgrSetup if anyone wants to translate it for me.  I'll replace my employer specific info with generic Contoso information if that will be useful.

Now what's ironic..is when I run CU2 it gives green light on the restart pending.  SP1 issue?

Mark the whole file is 247K - Assuming the most useful bits are at the end here you go.

Its ironic though CU2 installed and didn't wine abotu a restart - only SP1 is doing that.

There might be a pending reboot key present on this location "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager" . navigate to this key and delete "PendingFileRenameOperations" "PendingReboot" values if present.

Is SQL local? If not then maybe try rebooting it since it is mentioned in the log that the SQL server requires reboot. Not sure why that would cause issues but might as well.

Delphin-

In one of the links above they reference the PendingReboot.  I checked and recheck that.  Mark may be on to something on rebooting the SQL server.  Perhaps CU2 didn't need to poke the database whereas SP1 does.

Newton that got me there and now I get http://jthys.wordpress.com/2012/04/02/sccm-2012-required-sql-server-collation/

I have only 300 users.  I pretty much only use SCCM for Forefront I don't have anything super complex in it.  I'm really considering a new install on a nice I5 or better with 16 GB RAM and running it on Windows 2012, SQL 2012 and a clean install.  Its on a split system now and the host is an older Dell PE2850 with 6GB RAM.  With a 16 GB box I can run everything one one piece of hardware.

I'm getting the exact some issue where SDK is already initialised but fails to retrieve port number for SQL instance.  The Server is responding on the right ports however the installation process fails.

Did you ever find a resolution?

Best

Jeff

Found it, I had 2 port numbers that the install didn't like, switch it to 1 port number and all is bright...  cheers Jeff

Please shed more light on the two ports you have mentioned. A little more detail would help in information as to where this needs to be changed.
