Another SP Calendar Problem
Hello again.
We are seeing another problem with the sharepoint calendars. This time
in some calendars, reoccurring events are being displayed as all day
events that span the start to end dates.
This only seems to happen for a few events, recreating them produces the
same result. The link displayed on the calendar is to the overall event
and not an individual occurrence. All the correct recurring data is
stored (ie, weekly on Tuesdays).
Does anyone have any ideas where to start with this? I've had a look around but I can't find anything out there. We are running MOSS 2007 SP1, MS SQL 2005, Windows 2003 Standard.
Thanks.

Hello,When you create a reoccuring event, anytime you go into the item and make changes, the changes will affect all the item's links in the calendar view. However, if you click on the link for the same item on a different date, some changes aren't visible. For example, in trying to recreate your situation, I created a weekly reoccuring event on Friday. I have scheduled this meeting from 12pm to 2pm. It is not an all day event. In the Calendar view, the item is displayed with the start time of 12pm. If I click on the link on for the item on March 6, and edit it so that it is an all day event, back in the calendar view, all the Friday links are all day events. When I open the link for the same item on March 20th, the all day box is not checked, but the event is still an all day event b/c of the change I made to the item on the March 6th date. If you change the view to the AllItems view and open the reoccurring item, is it set as an all day event?Chris Caravajal: SharePoint Help

Hi I'm not sure if we are thinking on the same lines. I have taken some screenshots and posted them on the following links:
This shows the monthly view, with the recurring event underlined.
This one shows the details when you click on the event.
It is not set as an all day event, although the dates do span. From what I have seen, this is normal for recurring events as it defines the stopping date.We do not specify the end date before clicking the recurance check box, only specifying it either by the number of times to repeat or an end date. We have tried both.Thanks.

Unless I'm reading those images incorrectly you are specifying a month long event. The start date is 17/02/2009 at 15:30 and the end date is 17/03/2009 at 17:00. I'm in the US so I'm used to seeing dates like this represented as 2/17/2009 to 3/17/2009 or February 17th to March 17th. It looks to me like your calendar is rendering the event correctly.Matt Ranlett

That's what I'm reading too. The problem is, that I
specifically set the start and end date to the same day (the start day) when I
create the event. When you click the recurrence check box the dates are removed
leaving only the time boxes.
This is normal, and works for most recurring events we create. But something is
going wrong in the process here.

Something in that event's properties must be jacked. I recommend downloading SharePoint Manager from CodePlex and looking at this item as compared to a working item. Make sure things like content types and such match. I'm not sure at this point what your error is caused by.Matt Ranlett

Hi,
Based on your description, I did a test in my environment. However, everything works as expected.
The value I filled in the creating page is as below:
Title: Year 8 BBC School Report Preparation
Location: Savernake Library
Start Time: 3PM 30
End Time: 5PM 00 <Note: Please choose the same day here, though the date part may disappear after Make this a repeating event is checked>
Description: <Blank>
All Day Event: <Blank>
Recurrence: Make this a repeating event <Checked>
Weekly, Recur every 1 week(s) on, Tuesday
Start Date: 2/17/2009
End by:4/1/2009 (Used for test)
After I click OK to generate the events, everything works as expected.
Therefore, I recommend you to check the issue based on the following steps:
1. Confirm that the value you use is similar to mine, especially the date of the Start and End Time, and the All Day Event option.
2. Confirm that the product youre using is fully updated.
Thanks.
Best Regards,
Lionel

This issue exists when the calendar is made from a template or site template but making new calendar doesnt cause this problem
