Dear Experts,

I am facing a problem to which I would welcome if some one can help.

I have a public facing publishing site with following configuration:

Web Application:

1. Anonymous Access > No Policy

Site Collection:

1. Anonymous Access > Entire Website

I have added a subsite of type blog to my side with following configuration:

1. Permission Inheritance from parent.
2. On Comments List: Unique permissions with add list item and view list item for anonymous user.

Now when a anonymous user try to add comments to a blog post following error popup.



Need help if I am mising some thing to make it work.

The reason is that anonymous users need the ability to write to the comments list. Please see this blog for steps to resolve this.

Have you also considered using a publishing site and pages for blog posts rather than the SharePoint blog? To see this in action the blog post I have sent you is hosted on a SharePoint publishing site using pages and disqus for comments.

Brian thanks for your reply. As I mentioned I have already assigned add items rights to anonymous users on my comments list. 

Regarding your suggestion for using publishing site and pages, yes I have this option in mind but what about SharePoint blog site.  I have to use OOB SharePoint blog site for this purpose.

According to your description, my understanding is that anonymous users could not add comments after you gave proper permission for anonymous users.

Please deactivate the Limited-access user permission lockdown mode Site Collection Feature.
