Anchor ID multiple?
Hi, We are planning a simple HR Oracle to FIM to AD/Exchange solution. We were going to use the employeeID as the Anchor ID - however it now turns out that since this is an academic institution, some staff members are also students and share the same employeeID...so we cannot just rely on that for the Anchor as this cause duplicate problems on import. If I look at the FIm Sync Service GUI where we stipulate the Anchor, I see I can create something like 'attribute1 + attribute2' as the anchor. Is that it? Can I just select 2 attributes to be used as the anchorID? thank you

Certainly can ... all you need is to specify say ID and Object Type. However, there are drawbacks here ... I have found it better (from a simplicity and performance perspective) to create (derive) a brand new column in the CS for your anchor ... especially if you're going to declare reference type attributes in your MA. What I have used is something simple like "S12345" for student 12345 and "T12345" for teacher 12345. Still keep the employeeID and object type (S/T/etc.) attributes as separate attributes for import flows into the MV and you will be thanking me for this later ;)Bob Bradley, www.unifysolutions.net (FIMBob?)

So should we: - get the Oracle people to create a new column for us by combining for example 'employeeID and employeeType' or - you seem to hint at the fact that I can somehow create this 'merged' new column/attribute in the actual Connector Space (I am not 100% clear on how I would do that in FIM?)

Get the "oracle people" to do it for you :) ... once it hits the CS you can't modify it.Bob Bradley, www.unifysolutions.net (FIMBob?)
