An attempt was made to set a dataset parameter that is not defined in this dataset
Hi, Setup SSRS 2008 R2 Using Report Designer, using BIDS (VS2008, sp1), not report builder. Also have VS 2010 installed on same computer. Running both client and server on Win 7. --------------------------------------------------- Problem Getting error on preview: An attempt was made to set a dataset parameter 'FundCode'that is not defined in this dataset 1. I added query parameter 'WHERE FundCode = @FundCode' to dataset query. In preview, report opens, asks for FundCode, and displays properly. HOWEVER, adding the query parameter to the dataset is NOT automatically creating the Report parameter in the Report Data window. According to my books, it should be created automatically. 2. I want dropdown of available parameters, so I added Report parameter in Report Data window named FundCode with same text type as query parameter, and populate dropdown from another dataset. Then went to Dataset in Report Data window and set parameter FundCode = @FundCode. On preview, the parameter dropdown works, but get above ERROR message. 3. Should Report parameter been automatically created when I created query parameter and saved report and dataset? Thanks very much. Alan Alan Scharf

Hi Alan, As you posted, generally a report parameter will be created automatically created query parameter. However, if you rename a report parameter that is bound to a query parameter, you need to manually link the query parameters to the renamed report parameter. So, I would suggest you first check if the query parameter is linked to the report parameter. For the detailed steps, please refer to the article How to associate a Query Parameter with a Report Parameter at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms157187(v=SQL.105).aspx If it doesn't works, please let me know.
