Can any one point me to a white paper or some study case done in the subject? We have two site running the above configuration and I am looking for some pointers. TIA

Based on my experience sccm/altiris, there is no way to side by side migrate Altiris/Landesk to configmgr, you absolutly should do a new sccm installation/configuration.Bechir Gharbi.
