Allow bitlocker without a compatible TPM

IN trying to enable bitlocker on my laptop, I get the above error message. Here is the complete message:

Administrator must set the Allow bitlocker without a compatible TPM option in the Require additional authentication at startup policy for OS volumes.

What does this mean, and how do I do it?

Is the ConfigMgr related? Or are you trying to configure something manually?

Torsten is correct. This has nothing to do with ConfigMgr. If your computer does not have a TPM you have to allow it to use BitLocker anyway. You have to configure a policy - Group or Local (gpedit.msc)

Under Local Computer Policy navigate to Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Bit Locker Drive Encryption \ Operating System Drives and double click on Require additional authentication at startup.

Enable the feature and check the box next to Allow BitLocker without a compatible TPM, click Apply and Ok, and close out of Local Group Policy Editor.
