All Software Updates - Internet Explorer 11

Just to confirm, Internet Explorer 11 is not suppose to be in the list of All Software Updates ?  There are cumulative and security updates for it, but no Internet Explorer 11 installation.  (though IE 7, 8, and 9 installations are listed)

Thanks

PS.  if we need to deploy using the offline installer, are there silent install switches for IE11 ?

In the Software Update Point Component Properties, we already have Update Rollups, Critical Updates, Feature Packs, Security Updates, Service Packs, and Updates ticked for the Software Update Classifications.  We only have Definition Updates and Tools not ticked.

Maybe we're missing something in the list of Products ? We have all of the Windows items ticked.

Update Rollups, and KB article: 2841134

Goes without saying. Are you recieving updates for anything else than W81 and Server 2012 where IE11 is included? :)

Edit: Your last question. Create your own installer using IEAK11: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40903

Hi,

we decided not to include IE11 via Update because we feel more flexible then...but normally you should see it.

You install it on this way while OS in a Task Sequence Step:

IE11-Windows6.1-x86-en-us.exe /quiet /norestart /update-no

Uninstall:

.....

TASKKILL /FI "IMAGENAME eq IEXPLORE.EXE"

:: Uninstall the IE11 Core Installation
  wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:3003057 /quiet /norestart
:: Uninstall the language Pack for IE11
  wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:2841134 /quiet /norestart
  wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:2898785 /quiet /norestart

::Try to remove it via MUP
  FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "md /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /quiet /norestart"

.....

After synchronizing the Software Update Point in SCCM2012 R2, looking at the wsyncmgr.log, there were only a few errors (see below), probably related to the IE11 that we're missing.  Searching for information on "The Microsoft Software License Terms have not been completely downloaded and cannot be accepted" error refers to SCCM2012 going through a Proxy internet server, which we don't use.

Have you moved your wsus content?

"I had the same issue.

I used SQL Server Management Studio to connect to the SQL server WSUS is using.
I checked "SUSDB" database, table "tbConfigurationB".
The incorrect path was specified in "LocalContentCacheLocation" column.

After changing the path, WSUS was able to download EULAs.
It took several minutes, check the contents of DriveLetter:\WSUS\WSUSContent\

Hope this helps"

YES, that's probably the problem.  We had moved the \WSUS\WSUSContent from C: to E: drive because of space issues (using the ContentLibraryTransfer.exe utility).

In SQL Server Management Studio, I can't seem to find our SUSDB database (see picture below).  CM_MCE is our SCCM database.

Thanks !!

Looks like we'll have to use a Query to set the LocalContentCacheLocation value.

We can check the value (like below)

  • Open the SQL Server Management Studio and connect to the WSUS DB server.
  • Select New Query (or hit CTRL+N)
  • Type the following query:
    use SUSDB
    select LocalContentCacheLocation from dbo.tbConfigurationB
  • Click Execute to run the query

But how do properly set it to the correct value/path ?

Thanks

You can use wsusutil movecontent:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/sus/archive/2008/05/19/wsus-how-to-change-the-location-where-wsus-stores-updates-locally.aspx

Or, you can use wsusutil reset

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc720466%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Or, you can use SSMS, but instead of examining the table/row properties as per your screenshot, select the row and edit the value data.

e.g. right-click dbo.tbConfigurationB and choose select top 1000, then find the row you need and edit the value data to suit. you would need to restart the UpdateService after doing this.

When WSUS+WID is being used for SUP, it's usually a lot simpler and quicker to use wsusutil ;)

April 27th, 2015 5:23pm

Looks like the LocalContentCacheLocation is not the problem.  The path is correct.

I can't tell why it's failing on just those 8 updates:  IE11 for sure, and I'm guessing that the others are for IE10 (since that update doesn't show up either in the list of All Software Updates)

"wsusutil reset" will re-validate the content vs. db, I've used this successfully on a SUP which had the WSUScontent location moved improperly. Watch the WSUS logfiles (not the CM logfiles) as it validates the content. If all is well it will reconstruct the WSUScontent folder and download the EULAs i

WSUS is usually found at c:\program files\update services (regardless of ConfigMgr or not)

You should find the relevant WSUS logfiles at c:\program files\updates services\logfiles
