I have have MOSS 2007 on Windows 2008 and alerts are not working. MOSS is at version 12.0.0.6219 (SP1 installed) and the server has been fully patched (including .Net 3.5 being installed). This is a preexisting site that I just came into. Have you checked the logs and event viewer? I would also check the Timer Job Status screen in CA to see if there are any failed jobs. Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply. I've checked the event log and noticed that the timer service errored out. There are no failures in Central Administration Timer StatusI believe the the Outgoing mail settings are good. I can resolve the DNS name of the mail server from the sharepoint server. I did notice, however,that no email from the sharepoint server is making it to the email server. Do you have any specific settings I should check?

To check outgoing email settings I typically just setup an alert on something which sends the confirmation immediately, not using the timer job.
