Alert: Event data collection process unable to write data to the Data Warehouse
We've had our SCE server up and running a couple weeks now. It's running on a clean install of W2k3 Sp1 standard and was installed without the Post-release Hotfix rollup. I keep getting the following alert over and over and was looking for some help to get it resolved. Any Help would be greatly appreciated\ Alert: Event data collection process unable to write data to the Data Warehouse Source: sce1.drawnet.com Path: sce1.drawnet.com Last modified by: System Last modified time: 10/30/2007 8:36:29 AM Alert description: Event data collection process unable to write data to the Data Warehouse. Hi, This error can occur if the event.eventstage table has more then 50k rows. This error is non-critical and should not cause you any problems. The updated Data warehouse MP should correct this issue. Step 1: Download and install SCE 2007 latest Data Warehouse Library MP: Operations Manager 2007 Data Warehouse Library Management Pack http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=09f74984-7e9d-42ef-8b38-ad770b084363&DisplayLang=en After step1, please restart SCE health service and check if the issue persists. If error still occurs, try Step 2. Step 2: Download and install SCE 2007 latest hotfix rollup System Center Essentials 2007 Post Release Hotfix Rollup Available! http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2207586&SiteID=17 For your reference, here is another related issue on our SCE forum: SCE server not reporting in to itself http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2060533&SiteID=17 Hope this helps. We tried step 1 which did not resolve the issue. If I understand correctly the process in step 2 does not work for those of us who already have SCE installed and up-and-running. I believe the hotfix-rollup can only be done to affect the install media and not to existing installations is that correct? Is there any word on when a similar hotfix rollup forthose of you with SCE up and running or SP1 will be available?

Hi, Thank you for your response and feedback. Regarding step 1 to install SCE 2007 latest Data Warehouse Library MP, have you confirmed the MP has been successfully installed and restarted SEC server? Regarding step 2 to install SCE 2007 latest hotfix rollup. You are right, some of the hotfixs are to affect the install media before we install SCE. However, we still can manually install hotfix KB936339 and KB937831 after we installed SCE. These hotfix actually will replace some related dll files. At the same time, I would like to remind if you have installed the latest SQL server 2005 Service Pack 2? If not, please install SQL SP2. However, if the issue still persists, pleasesendthe System Event log files on theSCE server to me for further troubleshooting. To do so, please follow the steps below. Even log ============ 1. Click Start and choose Run. Then input: "eventvwr" (without the quotation marks) and then Click OK. 2. Right click Application Log and choose Save Log file As... Save the log file as app.evt. 3. Right click System Log and choose Save Log file As... Save the log file as sys.evt. 4. Right click Operation Mangers and choose Save Log file As... Save the log file as omgr.evt. 5. Please send the files to SCEDATA@microsoft.com and include the following text. Note: Please include the following three lines in the email body: Alert: Event data collection process unable to write data to the Data Warehouse http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2356023&SiteID=17 Robbin Meng MSFT As for SCE SP1, I think it should be released in the first half of year 2008. So far, we have not the list of the hotfixes which will be included into SP1. Sincerely,Robbin MengMicrosoft Online Community Support
