Aggregate Monitor alert description
Hi Sridhar, Are you creating those monitors and aggregate monitors using the "Web Application" template in "Add Monitoring Wizard..."? If that's the case, please take a look at the following blog post from the Operations Manager Team: http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2008/09/14/are-web-application-aggregate-rollup-monitor-alerts-not-very-useful.aspx It will help you understand the limitations and recommendations for fine tuning your Alert Descriptions. Unfortunately, the requirements you described above are not achievable simply and cleanly out of the box. It would involve Authoring a Custom Management Pack that would be questionable from a performance and best practices point of view. I hope this helps. Maxime

Hi, The Aggregate Roll-up and Dependancy Roll-up monitors are designed to Roll-up the State Changes NOT the alerts, so you couldn't roll-up the alert details.. Regards, Mazen Ahmed

Hello team, I have an issue with the monitor configuration for an web application. I have enabled monitoring an application which has an aggregate monitor. The aggregate monitor has depended unit monitors. I only want to receive ONE Alert if the applicationis having issues. I have only enabled alerting on the aggregate monitor. But if the application fails I would like to have a detail description of the key component which caused the application failed. I am able to obtain this information from the depended unit monitors. How can I configure my aggregate monitor to get the details of the alerts descriptions from the depended unit monitors below it? What would actually be useful is if the aggregate roll-up actually did its job and "rolled up" all the alerts. Thanks sridhar v
