After update distribution point on Package we can see x versions in CCM cache on clients, not on DP

Hello,

when we update some Package and click on Distribution point, client will download the whole package instead of overwrite the existing one - new version is created. It means small change in the script leads to download whole package. The similar issue with Application has been solved in kb2928122.

We are on 2012 R2 SP1.

Is it known problem for Packages? Does anybody see that same problem with Packages?

Thank you for answer

Sometimes there is a short lag time between the updating the Package version and what the client sees but if you waited for about 20 minutes and downloaded and you see the same data from the DP then I would recommend looking to make sure that you did in fact update the package version and not a package refresh.  You can further test this by clearing the client cache and then download the content.

First, the hotfix in KB 2928122 has nothing to do with this. That hotfix was specific to Stand-alone media used for OSD.

Content for applications and packages are downloaded differently and maintained differently on the clients so yes what you are seeing is expected and by design.

Thanks for your reply. It means if we have package about 1 GB and update some files weekly we can see all versions in CCM cache and it will fill up HDD with unwanted versions right? Is there anything we can use to delete older versions? Or we have to wait till max cache size is reached?

You can force the entire cache to be cleared or just specific items using the methods documented in the SDK on the UIResource.UIResourceMgr COM object:
