Hi We migrated to sharepoint 2010 from old server. Previously, we were using custom document templates as suggested by http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917662. We had the manifest.xml, schema.xml and the .dotm file. Now after migration, everything in sharepoint site is working fine. However, when we download old documents MS Word tries to fetch the XML Expansion pack from the previous server location. Can you tell me will the location, the filepath given in manifest.xml, not get updated by itself? :S Or do we have to update the template again? Secondly, if we update the template, will it correct the problem in previous documents that were created by the old template? I know it is not possible when we deal with templates in general, but for sharepoint I dont know. I am new to sharepoint. Thank you for your help in advance.

Thanks Brandon. I have uploaded a new template in sharepoint content types, and it has fixed the problem. However, it didn't fix the problem was the documents that have been created already using old templates. Any idea if i can change the old documents to use the new template? I tried using the option for "Specify whether all child site and list content types that use this type to be updated with the settings on this page. This operation can take considerable time to perform, and any adjustments to the child site and list content types are lost" But even then old documents are not getting changed. Do I have to remove the XMLpacks info from old documents manually? :S Regards, Shahan
