Have you tried re-importing WinPE 3.1 boot image?

So you're initiating the TS from Win XP FullOS right? Have you tried doing it with PXE/Bootable media? Are the results same?

What process did you go through to create your WinPE 3.1 image?

Same as this - http://blogs.technet.com/b/brandonlinton/archive/2013/06/21/how-to-create-and-import-a-winpe-3-1-boot-image-for-use-in-configmgr-2012-sp1-cu2.aspx

Have your tried to review the smsts.log for any potential error or indication of cause?

You can't enable Lab Shell in a WinPE 3.1 boot image via the console directly (for testing and viewing logs) but you can with this powershell script:

Hi,

Have you created the boot.wim file through WADK8.1 version?

Meanwhile, here are some videos for your reference.

Pallavi,

Just add a restart computer step after the capture steps. Make sure the restart option will be for the currently installed Operating System. make the system boot from the bootable media. You will be asked to press a key to boot from bootable media.

Let us know if it worked for you.

Copy the bootsect.exe from the Windows ADK 8.0 server on the SCCM server which has ADK8.1 . The path would be

\\Installation Drive\Program Files(x86)\Windows Kits\8.0\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Deployment Tools\x86\BCDBoot  for x86 version

\\Installation Drive\Program Files(x86)\Windows Kits\8.0\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Deployment Tools\amd64\BCDBoot  for x64 version

Make sure you rename the existing files to .old. Once done, refresh the boot images on DP. Run the task sequence again and now the staging should not fail. Run the TS with the default boot image.
