Advertisement status differs from Central vs Primary

Hello gentlemen,

As you can see advertisement ID 200BB and 200BC differs from what I have in Primary site server vs. Central site server.

The correct value should be - Disabled (as you can see from Central server).

I have tried to perform preinst /syncchild <primary site code> but it will still not updated.

Any insight on which log file should I check for and how can I fix this issue is greatly appreciated!

My env: Configuration Manager SP2 w. R2, Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2005 for both servers.

Which one is right? Did you sync from the parent to the child yet?

The correct one should always from Central.
(which has the value now - Disabled).

Yes, already syncchild from Central server.

Just to be clear you have preform both at Childsync and parentsync?

Central = parent

Primary = child to the Central.

I've only performed syncchild from Central.

And syncparent from Primary.

If that answer your question.

yes that does answer my question but my new question is what order did you do them in? Central -> Child then Child to Central? or the other way around?

My guess is the first way. Which kind makes sense based on what you are seeing.

As you see the lock is on Child (Primary site).

So, I'm wondering why when we disabled the advertisement on Central site it is not replicated down to the Primary site.

No idea.. I ran a test on one of my test lab and when I disable an advert at the parent site, it get disabled at the Child site.

At this point, I would recommend contact CSS for support.

All I can think now is the primary site is having communication issue to receive/forward data to from/to Central server.

Please let me know if anyone can point me to a detailed steps to ensure communication health between Parent and Child sites.

I tried to run logman to query the server (from Central Server to the affected Primary Site server):

C:\>logman.exe /query /s TROUBLED-SERVER.TW.COMPANY.ORG

Data Collector Set Type Status
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error:
The RPC server is unavailable.

C:\>

What could be the issue?

(Sorry no PSS support as this option is not viable to me). Thanks!

I think there is nothing more anyone here can do for you. I think that CSS (PSS was the old name) is your only option now.

Keep in mind that with TechNet or MSDN subscription you get a few "free" calls to CSS.

I have a Technet subscription key but it was retired before I could activate it.

Need to check on MSDN.
