Advertisement status, not updating.
I would suggest you to go ahead and check smsts.log in the client machine to get more details. The TS seems to finish ok, but I checked it this morning and it still says "running". How is checking the Smsts.log going to help me troubleshoot this?, also if the client boots back into windows after an OSD, does the smsts.log still exists?, if so where do I find it? Thanks for your help much appreciated.

It seems the Advertisement, ran successfully but it still shows as running even when I refresh. Do I have to configure or check something to make this work?

That page is only updated once every x hours. Just right-click on the highlighted node and you'll see the options. I'd never use that "report" ... advertisement status or the web or SSRS-reports are way better.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

got the web reporting working I believe, but the advertisement stills shows running, it has been hours since it completed. Any help would be great as I am really stumped as to why the advertisements status' are not updating.

The smsts.log will be written to the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\CCM\Logs for x64 machines and C:\Windows\System32\CCM\Logs for x86 machines when the TS finishes. I recommend adding SLSHARE=\\server\share to the customsettings.ini file. This will copy the log files to a central location when the OSD task sequence finishes. This makes troubleshooting much easier. As for your original question, verify that your task sequence is finishing properly by reading the smsts.log file. If it's completing, then by default the report should be updated every four hours.

I looked through the smsts.log after the TS had finished so I could try to figure out why the Advertisement Status doesn't update on the server. In the smsts.log I can see the following Non fatal error 0x80072efe in sending task sequence execution message status to MP I believe this is the reason why the Advertisement is not updating on the server, the question is how do I fix this? Thanks for any help. here is the link to the smsts.log http://cl.ly/0m2X2S0D1T261z1f2i0Q

In your smsts.log file you have error Failed to set status message (80072efe) and Non fatal error 0x80072efe in sending task sequence execution status message to MP. Most likely your management point is not installed or is not functioning properly. From the log files I can tell you're in a test enviroment. Verify that the management point role has been installed on your site server. If it has been installed, verify it's working by opening http://mpserver/sms_mp/.sms_aut?mplist in IE. Replace MP server with your sccm mp server name. If it's been installed, remove the role from the server and reinstall it. Look in mpsetup.log and mp_msi.log for errors.

0x80072efe = ERROR_INTERNET_CONNECTION_ABORTED so it's most likely not an MP issue. How does your setup look like exactly? I can see a dyndns fqdn in there. How is the client connected to the MP?Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

When I go to the link I get http://W2K8-DC1/sms_mp/.sms_aut?mplist <MPList> - <MP Name="W2K8-DC1" FQDN="W2K8-DC1.CLIVEBUCKWHEAT.DYNDNS.ORG"> <Version>6487</Version> <Capabilities SchemaVersion="1.0" /> </MP> </MPList> Is this good?, how do I uninstall the management point and re-install it? Thanks for any help in this matter.

What Torsten is asking is are your workstations connected to the MP via an intranet or internet connection. It's suspect because your FQDN includes dyndns.org.
