Advanced mapping type unavailable in FIM MA
Scenario.. I have an HR MA with user info like firstName, lastName, preferredName, location, department Different MA's systems have different formats for display name - like Smith, John / John Smith / Johnathan (John) Smith / John Smith (Dallas) etc.. So instead of trying to build displayName on the MV import side, I do it on the export side to each MA according to its rules for display name. but... The FIM Service MA has no option in the sync engine or the portal to do this. You can only export (or import) attributes directly without any transform at all. So I decided to create a MV attribute specially for the FIM MA and construct it's displayName on the inbound side, which was ok - except for the case when some of the attributes were contributed by multiple MA's and precedence comes into play.. You can see how this gets messy.. Anyone have a better way to approach this?

export firstname and lastname to FIM 'as is' and have an MPR that will construct displayname on 'firstname/lastname' changes using some WF activities. but I wouldn't do so... I would prefer correct displayName in MV.

The FIM Portal displays the contents of the MV as is. You will need to establish an external system as the authoritative source for displayname using precedence as you suggest.
