Admin console remains SP1 on secondary site server after SP2 upgrade
Hi,I upgraded my SCCM environment to SP2 some time ago - central, primary and secondary sites are all showing 4.00.6487.2000 and everything works smoothly. All site servers run on Windows Server 2003 x64.I usually run SCCM console either on primary site or on some workstation, but recently I happened to run it on a secondary site server where it was installed before upgrading the site to SP2. I discovered that the console is still version SP1 (4.00.6221.1000) and I can't, for example, see advertisements. The consoles on primary site servers are SP2 after the upgrade. This issue is only on secondary site servers with console installed. Of course it's not a critical issue for me because I can run console anywhere else, but out of interest, I'd like to solve it.I used console on primary site (not from media) for upgrading my secondaries, and the site upgrades were all successful. Only thing that I didn't check back then was to run console on secondary site server - I just don't use it that often there. So, I decided to see if I can upgrade the console from running the setup on SP2 media, but the option "Install or upgrade an administrator console" is disabled. The "Upgrade an existing Configuration Manager or SMS 2003 installation" option is available, but when I run this one, all possible prerequisites checks fail. I didn't worry about it, because I don't want to upgrade the site - afterall it already is SP2 and there's no sign of malfunctioning. I wouldn't like to touch the secondary site installation itself, I'd just like to upgrade admin console. I would just uninstall and reinstall admin console, but as far as I know it's not possible without uninstalling all SCCM.The next step was to try unattended console installation with following .ini settings: [Identification] Action=InstallAdminUI [Options] SMSInstallDir=C:\SCCMDIR ParentSiteServer=SCCMSERVER SDKServer=SCCMSERVER But the result was as follows: ===================== << Starting SMS V4 SP2 Upgrade Setup >> ===================== <02-05-2010 14:16:31> Commandline : "Z:\MEDIA\SCCMSP2\ConfigMgr07SP2Upgrade_RTM_ENU\smssetup\bin\i386\setup.exe" /script "Z:\MEDIA\SCCMSP2\ConfigMgr07SP2Upgrade_RTM_ENU\admin.ini" /nouserinput <02-05-2010 14:16:32> This is 32 bit. <02-05-2010 14:16:32> Verifying the Reg for AssetIntelligence Installation <02-05-2010 14:16:32> Setup detected an existing SCCM installation. Did a fresh installation of Primary site and secondary site with SP1.2. Installed SCCM console from SP1 media to secondary site server.3. Upgraded primary site to SP2 - success.4. Upgraded secondary site to SP2 from the console (not from local media) - success. Console shows site versions as SP2.5. Admin console on secondary site server still remains SP1, site however shows and acts as SP2.Any comments?

Hi,You must see the console on the Secondary Site like your run it on your workstation. It is not part of the Secondary Site installation like with a Primary Site. You should upgrade the console manually.Follow me through my blog and Twitter!

It's not supported to install the admin console on secondary sites. There was a rather long discussion not too long ago, but I cannot find it right now.
