Addressing client on another domain?
I am on a corporate network with two domains that have a trust relationship. I have an OU in one domain that works great but now clients in the other domain are requesting to come
onboard. So do I need to create another OU in the second domain? Or is there another solution?

Hi,
ConfigMgr. can support clients in both domains. You don't need to create any OU in the other domain (or system management container). Just make sure that you have a server locator point to support the clients -

So looks like there are two options and I don’t like either or need clarification. I push my clients through WSUS and them being in my custom OU. Looks like the mentioned
article states to leverage WINS or add a line to your client install string.
I don’t have control of WINS and wont in the future, nor do I want to manually run my install script to invoke the extra variable. Am I off base here? If just creating/replicating
the OU setting in the other domain will work, that is accessible to me.

Hi,
You can use the ConfigMgr. adm files to "prestage" the client installation properties (add them to the same GPO/OU). There is no requirement for WINS if you specify the Server Locator Point during the installation.Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/ | The Danish community for System Center products

Also without being in the OU in the first domain will the client know where to get its WSUS location?tconners

The ConfigMgr client creates a local policy that sets the WSUS server (SUP) if there's no GPO in place to would take precedence.

There will be a GPO in place in the other domain I will not have control of, that’s why I want to know if I can simply recreate the OU settings in the other domain and call
it good.

Can anyone please answer my question of creating another OU in the second domain to address this issue, as the WINS or manual instalation method will not work for me?tconners

Why do you want to create an OU? I don't get the idea behind that.

The WINS entry method in the other domain is not an option for me. Although having an OU created in the second domain is "If someone can tell me if that is an option that
is".
The other domains group policies are over ridding my clients SCCM settings there even if I manually install the client with the server locator point option.
SCCM is extended in the schema for that second domain with their servers only in the list. Do I need to add my server name to their schema?
