Adding parameters from SSAS
Hi All, I'm trying to create my first report and i have couple of questions. 1) I have to create a report from a CUBE. In this cube there is a DIMENSION with 6 heirarchies and each heirarchy has multiple attributes. Please see the the example, Hhere i only showed only 3 levels (SPCODE,SPGROUP and SPTYPE) a)SPCODE------IITM b)SPGROUP----Enforcement---c)SPTYPE----Citation Damage Assessment Investigation Legal Liquor License Vehicle Violation b)HHC---c)SPTYPE---CRT DEM HSG INV REP TRA VBO VEH b)Licenses---c)SPTYPE---Complaint Individual Legal b)Permits---c)SPTYPE---Drainage Driveway Electrical Encroachment Flood b)Planning---c)SPTYPE---Bond Companion Docket IHPC My question is how can i create PARAMETERS wherein when i select SPCODE (by default as there is only one value IITM), then in my second parameter SPGROUP for example when i select "Enforcement" i should only see those attributes in my next parameter which is SPTYPE that are related to SPGROUP='Enforcement' and not all the SPTYPE's in level3. Can anyone please guide me as how to acheive this? Thanks

Hi thinkingeye, Sorry for the delay. Based on your scenario, it is known as cascading parameters in Reporting Services. If we add the parameters in the Filters Pane of the MDX Query Designer, the two parameters will be cascaded automatically. If we add the parameters in the MDX query, we also need to modify the From statement of the query. For the detailed information, please see the following SQL Server Forum FAQ blog: Forum FAQ: How do I create cascading parameters when using cube database in Reporting Services?
