Adding child groups to an existing tablix
Hi, I'm having trouble trying to do something that I've attempted to do in the past but have never managed to accomplish - figured it was about time to post something up here. It concerns reports which contain groups, subgroups i.e. Tablixes that contain [+] signs that enable us to drilldown (hope that makes sense). My data is in Analysis Services. When I use the report wizard it is pretty easy to create these groups but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add new groups to an existing tablix. I've tried the following: Highlight the tablix row which signifies the current lowest subgroup. Right-click->Add Group->Child Group... When I do this I get an error "Innermost group does not have a grouping cell." I can't work out whether or not this is referring to the child group that I am trying to add or the existing (parent) group that I am trying to add the child group to. Any advice as to how to do this would be much appreciated! Thanks Jamiehttp://sqlblog.com/blogs/jamie_thomson/ | @jamiet | About me

Could you try clicking on the cell which has the innermost group (other than the detail) and add a child group? Once you make the group, it might come on the first column when you would want it to be in the inner most column, but that can be handled by making a new column to the right of the innermost cell, and then copying the value to that cell. If it doesnt work, could you paste a pic of how your tablix looks and where you want the drilldown so that I can replicate it?Cheers, Jason P.S. : Please click the 'Mark as Answer' button if a post solves your problem! :)

Hi Jason, Apologies for not replying earlier. Notifications seem to have stopped working on these forums so I never knew you replied until I checked back here just not. I tried what you suggested and unfortunately it didn't work. Here's what happened: I've tried a number of things and they all seem to result in this. the data is sourced from Analysis Services and the "Finance Expense Detail" member is not a leaf level member i.e. it has got some descendants. I want to display those descendants on the tablix. -jamiehttp://sqlblog.com/blogs/jamie_thomson/ | @jamiet | About me

I must say I am surprised to find a Jamie question rather than a Jamie response. Quite used to the opposite. I have the exact same issue. Just got there in a different manner. I can't figure how to edit/remove group so I started a new empty tablix . After adding a group, I can't seem to be able to find how to add the detail rows. I receive the exact same message as Jamie. If you figured the answer to this question, I would appreciate knowing it.
