I need to push todays date via a sync rule. how can this be done?Opper ...don't stop.

The request creation date can be written directly to a sync rule parameter - it has a time component, but you could probably strip this using a trim function or suchlike. From memory it's //Request/CreateDate ... but you can find out yourself from the function evaluator LookUp button ...
