Add or Update Assignees link not appearing for one of the work flows in the WrkStat.aspx page

Dear All,

For one of the workflows built using SharePoint designer has following issue.

This issue is not occurring for other workflows built using SharePoint designer.

User is site collection administrator but still not able to find the links only for this workflow.

Issue: Add or Update Assignees, Cancel all and Update active tasks links are missing in the WrkStat.aspx page for one of the workflows only.

For your reference attaching the Image1 and Image2.

Image1 shows the links(Add or Update Assignees, Cancel all and Update active tasks) appearing on WrkStat.aspx page for all other rest workflows.

Image2 shows the links missing on WrkStat.aspx page only for one workflow.

Appreciate if you could share your ideas and help to resolve this issue.

Thank you so much!

Hi Narayana,

Please the user's permissions on the library which is associated to the problematic workflow. The Add or update assignees of task, cancel task and update active tasks links in WrkStart.aspx page are only available to see by the users who have manage lists list permissions.

Which actions did you use in the problematic workflow? Could you give a screenshot about your actions in the workflow.

Please re-publish the workflow, compare the result.

And create a new workflow with SharePoint Designer, and add "Start Approval Process" action into it. Then test again, compare the result.

Thanks,

Wendy

Hi Wendy,

Thank you very much for the information.

The workflow has Impersonation Step.

It removes all permissions for every one and replaces creator with full control and read permissions. Also replaces approver with approver and read permissions.

After that it assigns task to approvers  as the last step is Start Approval Process.

I created another workflow with same steps and the links ( Add or Update Assignees, Cancel all and Update active tasks) appear. It looks they added some steps on approval task(by clicking on links Change the behavior of single task / overall task) which may cause issue. So, now looking into those steps and trying to replicate.

Will let you know how it is going tomorrow.

Screen shot of workflow below for your reference:

Hi Wendy,

I was trying to replicate the steps in the Approval Process by clicking on "Change the behavior of a single task".

After adding the steps, when saving and publishing , I get following error and looking solutions to fix this first.

Any ideas to resolve this new issue, please share.

Error Message:

Errors were found when compiling the workflow. The workflow files were saved but cannot be run.

Screen shot below for your reference.

Many Thanks!

Hi Narayana,

Please use "Check for Errors" to check if there are some errors in the workflow.

In addition, if you just add "Start Approval Process" action into the workflow, then publish it, check if the links are missing. If not, I think, this issue should be about the design of your workflow.

Thanks,

Hi Wendy,

Looks like I was copying from one workflow to this workflow the actions and that would be giving the error message:Errors were found when compiling the workflow. The workflow files were saved but cannot be run.

So, deleted the workflow, deleted designer workflow cache in the local system where designer is and did iisreset. After this created new Workflow with similar workflow actions and that worked.

About the issue:Add or Update assignees Links not appearing

Just placed new start approval process action above the one(start approval process) not working and disabled the not working action with if condition. when workflow triggered then new start approval process action was showing the links correctly. Again deleted new start approval process action, removed if condition and checked older start approval process(not working one) by publishing. When I checked then older start approval process also started showing links and working. Do not know the exact reason but it finally worked.

Thank you very much for all the information and support!
