Add image to summary link web part title?
Is it possible to add an image (small) to the title of a summary links web part? I see that images can be added to the links in the link web part, but I want to add an image that is illustrative of the category of links and so want it next to the title I have given the web part. There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.

hello unfortunately there is no enough customization freedom over web part titles. You are limited by those options which you can find in Web part properties tool part and there is no option for inserting images. But you can use workaround: hide OTB title at all for your summary link web part. Place Content editor web part above the summary link web part and hide OTB title of this web part as well. After that insert image and title for Summary link web part in Content editor web part. As it will be located above Summary links web part, for end users it will look like it has a title with image.Blog - http://sadomovalex.blogspot.com CAML via C# - http://camlex.codeplex.com Graphs visualization in Sharepoint - http://spgraphviz.codeplex.com

sadomovalex - that was a clever idea and for the most part it worked. However, for some reason it increased the width of the webpart. As a test, I have two Summary Link web parts side by side on the page. The one on the left using the title mode, and the one on the right using no mode so that I could create my own heading (with the content editor web part per your suggestion). In the CEWP, I put a thumbnail image (50px by 50px), mt title (size 4) and underneath I put a horizontal rule (<hr />) so that I could create a bottom border look for it. None of those elements individual widened the WP, but together they did. The right hand column ended up taking about 60-70% of the wideth of the page layout. Any ideas why, or remedies? There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.

You can manually create a layer using SP Designer and add a image next to title.Regards, Pratik Vyas | SharePoint Consultant |

well I'm sure this problem if solvable if you will play with CEWP a bit. E.g. if you need to make a content with fixed width you can add some container element (like div or table) and specify its width in the style attribute - so after you will add image and title inside of this container control they will not expand the parent control width. You can also provide a link to screenshot to this thread. But as I would just prefer "try and see result" approach with html layout in CEWPBlog - http://sadomovalex.blogspot.com CAML via C# - http://camlex.codeplex.com Graphs visualization in Sharepoint - http://spgraphviz.codeplex.com

sadomovalex - I don't want to set a fixed width as the pay layout is a fluid one. I would set it as a percentage, but there appears no way of setting the width property of a WP to a percentage of the zone. Using your technique of both columns they each came out to 50% width of the zone. But I am curious what is making it take up more than 50% just because I put a CEWPweb part above the SLWP in the same WP zone. There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.
