Add existing application
I inherited a Sharepoint install. I need to move the DB's, but the Sharepoint Admin points to other unused sites. I tried to add the site we use, and it isn't listed. 3 other Web sites are listed and can be added, but not the live one. Any ideas?

Hi, Are you saying that you cannot get a working Central Administration site? What do you see for a Central Administration web site under IIS Administration? Troy Lanphier http://blog.sharepointcookbook.com

I have a working Central Admin site. But it doesn't show the live site. It shows the server that hosts the live site. But only other sites on other ports, and other sites on other servers. I found where you can add an application, but it skips the live site. Shows other sites from IIS.

I have the working site on the same server listed and working in IIS.

It sounds as if you might have two different SharePoint installations on the same box (just a wild guess, without seeing the IIS Manager). Do you have access to the database server hosting these instances? If so, how many configuration database(s) do you see?

There are 3. Sharepoint_config, Sharepoint_config_dc3, Sharepoint_config_new

I had installed Sharepoint on DC3 to try and make sense of what a new clean install looked like- I checked the dates and that explains both Sharepoint_config_dcs, and Sharepoint_config_new. There's also an SP_Config- which would likely be the second install as it's date is within a month of the other one. So is it not possible to attach the admin site to the other install?
