Add an average indicator line to a chart
Hi, I have a bar chart which displays race times, times are on the Y axis. I would like to add a horizontal line to the chart which represents the average race times. Is there an easy way to do that other than adding a new series to the chart? thanks Jamiehttp://sqlblog.com/blogs/jamie_thomson/ | @jamiet | About me

I wouldn't have thought so - to display data, a series is required. Youcould probably derive the values from the exisiting data but you will need to physically add a new series to the chart and then change the type to make it a lineRgds Geoff

Challen, Another, somewhat unrelated, question for you. On the thread that you linked to you show some screenshots of charts for which the bars have what I cna only describe as a curved effect yet still in 2D. Can you tell me exactly how you achieved that?. I really like it and I'd like to do similar in my reports. Thanks Jamie http://sqlblog.com/blogs/jamie_thomson/ | @jamiet | About me

Hi, One way to achive curved effects in 2D is to enable 3D in chart area and then set rotation and inclination to 0. -Chintak

I have now tried that but its not really giving me the effect I want. here's what I get: As you can see the bars don't appear curved as they do in Challen's chart above. Any ideas? @JamieThttp://sqlblog.com/blogs/jamie_thomson/ | @jamiet | About me

Hi Jamie, Can you please try secting any of 3D chart type (by deafult if you have slected normal, try changing chart tyep to and 3D) and then in chart area set rotation and inclination to 0. I can get 2D effects what are in Challen's chart's above. -Chintak

Me happy :) Thanks Chintakhttp://sqlblog.com/blogs/jamie_thomson/ | @jamiet | About me
