Active Directory Group Discovery - Working but not populating "All User Groups" Collection

I have spent many hours veiwing the log files and triggering full scans etc...

My AD environment has approx 11,000 security groups, i am only seeing 2552 in my "All user Groups" Collection even though i have sepcified Group Discovery to start at the top of my domain level...

Anybody come accross this before ?

Cheers

Do you have the option set for it to search recursively though the OU's? That's usually on by default.  The other possibility is that the default setting for performing the discovery as the site server computer account is being restricted from certain OU's by permissions on them?  What if you throw in a Domain Admin account in there for discovery and try again?

Hi ,

I tried that and got the same results...

Had a good watch of the adsgdis.log and i managed to spot some errors apperaing, all relating to commincation link failure -

*** [08S01][0][Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0]Communication link failure SMS_AD_SECURITY_GROUP_DISCOVERY_AGENT 06/06/2013 11:05:59 9228 (0x240C)
ERROR: UpdateMembershipTablesForSecurityGroup - Failed to start a SQL Transaction SMS_AD_SECURITY_GROUP_DISCOVERY_AGENT 06/06/2013 11:05:59 9228 (0x240C)

to me it seems that the discovered informationn just does not get written to the database...

Yes, I know this is an old post, Im cleaning up old post, did you get this fixed, if so what was the solution?

From the error message above you are clearly having a SQL problem, I would start there.

Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening  a support case with Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) as they can work with you to solve this problem.
