Active Directory Deleted Computers still existing in my SCCM 2007 R3 Site Database
Hi,
I am currently performing SCCM Site System status monitoring, I just came to know that some of the Computers deleted already in my Active Directory still existing on my SCCM. The below are
my current settings:
1. Active Directory System Discovery = Every 2 Hours
2. Heartbeat Discovery = Every 8 Hours
3. Delete Obsolete Client Discovery Data = Delete Data older than 5 Days, and the days selected are (checkbox) Sunday to Saturday (Whole Week)
4. Delete Inactive Client Discovery Data = Delete Data older than 5 Days, and the days selected are (checkbox) Sunday to Saturday (Whole Week)
5. Delete Aged Computer Association Data = Delete Data older than 5 Days, and the days selected are (checkbox) Sunday to Saturday (Whole Week)
6. Delete Aged Inventory History = Delete Data older than 180 Days, and the days selected are (checkbox) Sunday to Saturday (Whole Week)
And yet I still found inaccuracy for the computers in my AD and the Computers that is in my SCCM. I tried a random check and at least 10 computers are still in my SCCM Query Collection even
those computers are already deleted 3 Months back from AD.

Hello - Did u check the properties of those records? That may help u to find out which discovery is the latest one.Anoop C Nair - This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees, and confers no rights. |Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually

It is going to take 180 days before they get removed from CM07. This is controlled by your Delete Aged Inventory History setting.

Anoop,
I am only checking on both Active Directory and SCCM Collections, where can I find the right Status Report for this matter? I just checked it and compare straight forward.

Garth,
Thanks for the reply, I will changed my settings to 30 Days, and hoping this will result a good outcome. By the way what is the default from SCCM? In my environment we just upgrade from SMS 2003 to SCCM 2007 the settings was enherited from the old
SMS settings.

anoop is talking about discovery agent time is am not wrong. right click on the machine and choose properties to findout the agent time detials.
yes,as said by garth, you can do this with site maintance task(delete aged discovery task),no other way to automate this OR else
you can create a report/collection which is not discovered via any discovery method(system discovery, hearbeat etc) for past X days (be cautious offline system may also fall under this) and delete the collection to remove
the computers which are not avilable from AD.//Eswar Koneti @ www.eskonr.com

and u didnt forget the rule of thumb to have 'delete aged discovery' interval is at least twice that of the heartbeat interval http://blogs.msdn.com/b/steverac/archive/2006/08/03/687874.aspx
default is set to 90 Days and enabled . for other maintance tasks
