I have setup a web application monitor and set alert description as: Status code is $Data/Context/RequestResults/RequestResult["1"]/BasePageData/StatusCode$ as per: http://blogs.technet.com/momteam/archive/2008/09/04/actionable-alerts-for-web-applications-in-operations-manager-2007.aspxAlert description is still not functioning, what has to be done?

when you go to the health explorer, you do have the alert descriptor on the status code monitor and not on the top monitorPaul Keely

it shows up after we click on: Base Page(show/hide details) the way it works now is:1. we have to open health explorer2. we have to go to "Critical" such as in this case: "Base Page Status"3. we have to open "State Change Events" tab4. Find where issue is and click on: Base Page(show/hide details)what we would like to have:when we select alert in the console, we should able to see in Alert Description (which will appear in email if configured for notification)

Hi,If you put the $Context on the aggregate level monitor, it will not work. If you put it on the status code monitor (you need to setup an alert for that monitor) it will work. The aggregate monitors do not have insight into the context event that cause the state change. Also, make sure your request id is correct (export the MP and check on teh data source if the configuration for that request says RequestID="1"- Alex. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Hi,
My web application include several request in it, I configured the alert on the basepage monitor for each request. i need to add some additional data to alert description. i used the following
$Data/Context/RequestResults/RequestResult["5"]/BasePageData/StatusCode$
for the 5 request but the result in the alert description is allways for the first request ($Data/Context/RequestResults/RequestResult["1"]/BasePageData/StatusCode$)
Any idea how to solve it,
Kobi

Hi,
I would not use XPath queries in the format described on that blog. I'd use it like the ones in the generated MPs:
Replace the ["5"] with [@Id="requestId"] where the request Id is the id of the request in question. (look at the results DataItem raw XML (in a "RunTest") or on the MP this application is saved on.
