AccountName in FIM won't update
I've been successfully running HR & AD synchronizations, provisioning, deprovisioning, Exchange, etc for about 1,000 users. Everything was great until, while attempting to standardize naming, we changed about 100 user accounts from mixed case (MSmith) to all lower case (msmith). Only the case changed. When I flow the updated account name back to the FIM MA, it successfully processes the exports (no errors) but then the Delta Import and Delta Sync job acts like nothing happened. I don't get any errors, it just shows 0 changes. When I look at the Requests in the Portal I see each individual update come through as Completed (policy applied, no error) but nothing actually happens. I also tried changing the AccountName directly in the Portal but I see the same results (acts like a success but doesn't actually do anything). The AccountName in FIM absolutely refuses to update and/or throw a useful error. I would appreciate any feedback! Brian

its normal for FIM - have the same problem with all string values, not only AccountName the workaround - add dot or dash to account name, submit a request, it will change - then delete that extra character. The reason seems to be SQL collation for FIM db/tables which is CI_AS by default (case insensitive) or FIM does normalization and lowercases for all string values (which I don't believe to happen)

Excellent, thanks for the information. I will try the workaround and update this post. Brian
