Accessing reporting services from URL and login prompt
Can someone please point me to the correct procedure for allowing users to see reporting services content? Currently I add the RS domain to the intranet sites under IE security, on my machine I do not get a prompt after doing this. On other machines they get a prompt and have to log in to the server to view the report. Is it a matter of setting up permissions in IIS? thank you.

Thanks for the reply. Doesn't the automatic logon assume that they can logon to the server? Or do I have to do something in IIS too? Basically, the way it works now is that they have to sign in as administrator to use it, which I don't want, I just want them to be able to see the reports as a regular user. thanks.

Hi,You can assign the regular role for these users or group. The role can be the default(Browser, Content Manager, My Reports, Publisher, Report Builder) or the customized by you. In the IIS, set the users use the window authentication to access the reports/reportserver sites. Of course, some of the clients need to be set use the window account in the IE as the Praxy1 said.See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179929(SQL.90).aspx for how to assign the role for your user or group.See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189370(SQL.90).aspx for how to new/edit a role.See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa292114(VS.71).aspx for IIS authentication.thanks, jerry

Hi, if you access the Reports using URL access it will prompt for the Credentials it is a obvious situation with the URL access there is no way to pass the Credentials dynamically. there is only one way - go to the Report server virtual directory in IIS and Select "Directory Security " tab click on edit then check the Anonymous access and provide a valid user credentials and Check Allo IIS to control password then uncheck the other authentication options. If you go with the Report Viewer Control there u can specify the Credentials and it won't prompt for credentials at runtime. Cheers, Sateesh

Hi Prasanna, But we cant ask all the clients to change their browser settings to view the reports. Is there any other solutions? I am using SSRS2008, using webservice to display the reports in asp.net. Asking credential for every report. Thanks, senthilselvan.D
