Accessing SiteAdmin (Administration site host) generates error 404
My site admin was generating some errors in event viewer. a solution suggested creating a new site collection on this web application. I created a site collection on the admin application. however, it seems it over wrote the host site at /. I restored the last night database backup. It caused more problems. Now, I don't see any info on the right site of the window including the name of the database of the site collection. all other sites including Search are working fine. What should i do now? the site admin is not available at all. please help. Sara

Hi, You can re-provision the central admin web application by running this command : psconfig.exe -cmd adminvs -provision -port 1799 -windowsauthprovider onlyusentlm You can replace the 1799 by the port no, your central admin web app is using now. Hope this helps. Regards, Djamel Chagour http://spbyexamples.blogspot.com/ http://mosslogviewer.codeplex.com/

Hi, Firstly, the new site collection did not overwrite the host because the site admin url is that ‘/ssp/’admin but ’ /’. Secondly, check the detail information in the errors in event viewer. I guess that it is a ‘DB-login fail’ error. If so, you can try to change the application pool account as your farm administrator (or the owner of your DB) in IIS of your shared services. Let me know if you have further questions! Hope it is helpful!Seven
